Sparty (1)   Moa, shield rigs supporting a massive, passive shield!

Uofis (1)   Vexor, cap injector, mwd, drones for damage and highs for neut/damp + a web

Dirk (2)       Atron ( dead guy) Thorax, mwd, blasters, drones, tank

Daddyhotep(1) Hound, almost full t2, 2 x damp, mwd, and not enough cap to go infinite.


  Fight 1:    Uofis vs Daddyhotep

Looks nasty for Uofis at a start, but he finally manages to get within web range at the same time as Daddyhoteps cap dies (for the 3rd or forth time!) and survies with almost no armor left, when the Hound does some volleys of close combat while the Drones slowly crawl closer. Uofis wins!

Fight 2:    Sparty vs Dirk (using the Atron)

Sparty locks the Atron, they get out their drones, and the Atron refrom its particles to a nice Generic Small Wreck. Sparty wins!

Fight 3:    Uofis vs Dirk (Using the Thorax)

A long battle that was without a clear winner for some time. Uofis is short on cap recharges since the rules did say "once you undock, you dont dock up again 'til the finals are done" but he keept out of range and managed to first handle all of Dirks drones and then finally did close in - being the slightly faster ship - and there the Thorax did some melting in the happy hands of Ogres and Hammerheads. Uofis wins!

Fight 4:    Sparty vs Uofis 

Uofis, now having his Vexor and set-up severly crippled due to damages and out (or short) on cap rechargers meet Spartys slow (no mwd) but very shield heavy (both in size and recharge rate) Moa. The battles rages for a while, The Vexor keep out of range, the drones get shot at, the Moa get small tints of red in shield that fast close up again. At the end the Vexor moves to a safer distance - and since the Moa is very much slower it can't decide the battlefield. Uofis - and the spectators - relize that the Vexor can keep the distance for the rest of the battle ( 15 minutes, and these minutes are coming to an end as Judge Dash just muttered something about "spice things up" and climbed into a POS gun ).
The fight can end in two probably ways, and that is a suicide attack from Uofis (that would kill him and make Sparty the winner due to the Vexors decision) or it could end in a draw from Uofis side (by turning of the guns and just stay out of reach from the Moa, but still not being able to nothing vs it).
Uofis decide to do the decent thing, and turns of his MWD. Then, Judge Dash, with some help from the two Kanins, sort things out, and first the Vexor, then the Moa (after a while) enter the next natural stage in the life of a ship: The wreck. The Finals are over! As expected the winning ship did survive the longest - and then no ship is left at all, just as it is supposed to be in a good final!

   ...and now the price moderator had to leave, long overdue and late already...
   If ppl are interested, the rest of the price can be divided at a convinient time for all involved.

   All prizes are to be picked up by the winners / given out by the donators!
      

Some notes on tactics:

   Dirks choice - taking two ships instead of pouring all points into one - proved a good way making sure that he would end up at least on as 3rd since he was the only one doing that.

   Uofis might actually have "won" the finals by.... Chicken out and not doing the right thing in the last fight between him and Sparty. By just staying out of range and waiting for the Judges to call the match of for time. Of course, doing so would have won the tourney but not the respect! Good game to you for doing the decent thing! It is of course also a question HOW the judges ( beeing chosen for the job by Driva among the most bloodthirsty and grumpy judges around the Uper Pipe Road 12) would have judged in that mather and HOW they would have "told" the finalists the results. =)

   The system for the finals were construced in order to be "risk-reward" and "playable" and used a few other, quite high lvl, design considerations. Aka, for exampel, you would, already when you did decide to take on or two ships, decide how you would "play" the finals on a strategical level. But all that is mostly beyond the scope of this leauge and this finishing-off note! GG all!
